The Transition Marquette County Reading is well into it’s 2017-2018 schedule. Click here for the complete schedule.
The Transition Marquette County Reading Group will sponsor a conversation on Building Community Resilience at 7pm on Thursday, April 12, at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette. Resources for the conversation will include two books Community Resilience Reader, edited by David Lerch, and Resilience Thinking by Brian Walker and David Salt.
The writers note that we are facing an “E4 Crisis” – Environment, Energy, Economy, and Equity. They identify 6 foundations that are essential no matter where or how resilience building efforts are undertaken, and no matter what issues might be of most concern locally – people, systems thinking, adaptability, transformability, sustainability, and courage – and give several examples of community resilience in action.
There is also an opportunity to join a study group for the Post Carbon Institute”s Think Resilience Online Course. You can view an introduction to this course at https://education.resilience.org/. If you are interested in joining the group, which would make the course available for half price ($10), contact Charlie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any interested persons are invited to join the conversation. As usual, it would help to have at least started to read one of the books, or another on community resilience, or started the Think Resilience Online Course. For more information, call Charlie at 226-3314 or email email@example.com.
